Clock It is a brilliant fast-paced, quick-thinking, board game by John Adams aged 8+.

Clock It Board Game By John Adams Ideal Games Review

It’s for 2+ players and the aim of the game is to get all 12 game cards around the clock the alarm goes off by either saying, drawing or miming a game card chosen by the clock.

What’s In The Clock It Box?

  • 1 light up clock (requires 3AAA batteries)
  • 1 clock board
  • 1 wipe clean drawing board
  • 1 pen
  • 80 double-sided game cards
  • Instructions

Everything fits in the box again but it all falls around inside so it would be useful to have a grip seal bag to put the cards in.

How To Play Clock It

Players split into two teams (you could have more than two teams if you don’t mind waiting for each team to have a go with each round). Each team has one DESCRIBER and everyone else is a GUESSER.

The clock board is placed on the table and a game card is placed by each number on the clock (there will be 12 in total). You can decide if you want to use words or pictures or a combination of both.

The DESCRIBER puts the key in the back of the clock and turns it to the symbol they want to use in the game.

  • A theatre mask means the card must be mimed.
  • A pencil means the word must be drawn on the wipe board
  • A speech bubble means they can only talk, but they are not allowed to use the word in ant way, shape or form
  • All three symbols mean you play a mixture of all three. Which one you use is determined by the clock!
Back Of The Clock Showing Symbol Selection

Each team plays one at a time. The describer faces the clock towards them so that no other team members can see the the face and pushes down on the yellow alarm area… this sets off the clock and the game begins!

Clock Lighting Up

The clock will light up the symbol it wants you to use (only applies with the multi-setting) and the number on the clock you must describe on the cloak board. If your team is successful they pick up the card and you push down on the alarm again resulting in another number being selected. Play continues until either all cards have been picked up or you run out of time!

The camera has bleached the image a little so the coloured hands aren’t showing. It’s very easy to see the clock light up off-camera but here’s a darker image to show how it selects what you do.

New cards are placed down around the board and play begins again with the other team!

What Did We Think Of Clock It?

We totally loved Clock It. It’s a lot harder than it looks and very addictive, especially if you have a bunch of very competitive people!

Each round is over quite quickly as it only lasts a minute… you have 5 seconds per question! It’s easy to set up and get going once you know the rules which I really like as you can have a really quick game before supper, going out or going to bed. Which makes it a great family game.

The only negative is the box it comes in which is a bit flimsy and we fund kept popping open causing the cards to fall out. That was easy to prevent though buy using a grip seal bag to keep the cards in.

This Clock board game looks great fun. What age would you recommend it for? My daughter is nearly 5 and is starting to learn how to tell the time and is obsessed with clocks at the moment!

We love this kind of game! We often don’t have the energy to play something long winded and complex, but this sort of guessing game that you can pick up and start pretty quickly is perfect. It’s a shame the box doesn’t have somewhere secure to keep the cards though – maybe an elastic band would help?

This sounds like just the kind of game our family would enjoy! We can get very competitive and this sounds right up our street.
