The Geomag Panel 192 Piece Kit provides a construction platform for kids to investigate and create an infinite number of structures using magnetic bars, steel spheres, and plastic panels. All the while learning indirectly and directly about magnets and their forces. It’s totally my kind of toy!

I love how STEM Toys being used at home helps to support kids with their studies at school, (without them realising) as it encourages them to investigate and be creative, which is sadly not always encouraged at school.

How to Use GeoMag Panels
You don’t need the leaflet to use Geomag panels. It’s very easy to just dive straight in and start connecting the pieces intuitively.
But if you do get stuck or want some project ideas the instruction leaflet explains how to make use the pieces to make basic shapes and also some larger complex models. Plus it explains magnet polarity and plants ‘intellectual seeds’ about using the ‘push’ of a magnet to help create movement.

What CAn You Build?
My girls started off using the bases to make simple structures and understand how the panels can be used to add strength to their creations.

There is definitely a knack to getting the panels to stay securely in place. So a little patience, perseverance, and a gentle touch is required

But once finished these solid base structures can be suspended and carefully spun using the power of magnets!

From here they went on to create a rather splendid fruit bowl.

Their first attempt collapsed when they put too many satsumas in the bowl!

But the second time around (with one less satsuma … a little less ‘load’) they nailed it!

And then they were on a role and with not many pieces left (they didn’t want to break the bowl) went from this…

To this …

I’ve always loved construction sets as they secretly help kids develop a range of skills and knowledge whilst innocently playing (you can see our Meccano reviews here) and can’t wait to include Geomag Panels in our home education lessons. It is going to be perfect for studying magnetic forces and polarity, expanding on 2d and 3d shapes and of course combining this knowledge to use in construction projects whilst continually refining their creative design.
Geomag Panels are perfect for kids who love to investigate and fiddle. Geomag is an incredibly well-made brand that uses high-quality materials (the kind of toy you pass on to future generations) and you can constantly extend it with other kits if your child becomes obsessed.
We were also sent a set of Geomag Mechanics that uses magnetic force to add movement to Geomag structures. You can see how it works in the blog below
Aimed at 5+ years the Geomag Panels kit is a worthy investment as it will be of use through childhood helping support studying in later years. It’s the perfect STEM Toy, that will help develop logic, problem-solving, build skills and of course develop a child’s understanding of magnetic forces.
