What Are High-Frequency Words?

High-frequency words are words that we see and use all the time in books, when we talk, and even on signs around us. These are the words that young readers encounter frequently in their early reading materials and include words like  “the,” “and,” “it,” “to,” “is,” and many more. These words are special because they help us make sentences, tell stories and act like the glue that holds our sentences together.
