Review Of The Make Your Own 3D Space Mission Vehicles By Rex London

Unlike lots of ‘build-your-own’ kits, there are no tools, scissors, or glue required, and most importantly, depending on the age of your child (it’s aged 5+), very little adult help is needed!

And if you don;t want to buy the full set or you want to double up on some of the vehicles you can buy all of these models separately.

Each sheet has numbered puzzle pieces that correspond with numbers used in the instruction manual. It’s really important that the puzzle pieces are NOT pushed out until they are needed!

How Easy Is It To Make The Models?

Making the models is really straight forward BUT…

DO NOT poke out all the pieces on a board before you look at The instrutions!

Rex London Space Mission 3d Puzzle Instructions

Each piece is numbered, but the numbers are not to do with the order that the pieces go together! The numbers are used as a reference on the instruction leaflet. The smaller puzzles (appollo11 and curiosity rover) all come off one sheet, but the Space Shuttle and Saturn V move back and forth between a couple of sheets so it’s really important to only push out the pieces relative to the stage of build you are at.

Make sure you carefully push out all the cut-out connector slots in each piece before you start building or you’ll end up having some rattling around inside the model. These little pieces are easy to push out with a fingernail but you could use a teeny screwdriver, wooden skewer or hair clip if you needed to.

As you work through each space vehicle project the amount of manipulation and technical build increases.

The LaunchPad is probably the most fragile part to build and care needs to be taken not to bend it in the wrong direction. We popped out all the pieces out of the tower before we started building it, but you could shape it and secure it in place and then pop out the pieces.

Make sure you read the instructions properly. We were a bit too quick off the mark adding the two walkways and when it came time to attach the rocket we realised they were actually different and the walkway we had at the top needed to be underneath. Luckily it was pretty easy to undo it all and move everything to the correct place!

What Did We Think Of the 3D Space Mission Vehicles?

All the 3d puzzles are beautifully designed with strong illustrations and great colour. There is one niggle with the Curiosity Rover. The side wheel attachments fall off far too easily which makes them not such great play value. That’s mainly because of the way they are attached but a sneaky bit of glue would sort or possibly a piece of blu-tack tucked behind the back

Rex London Curiosity Rover 3d Model

The Rex London ‘Make Your Own Space Mission Vehicles‘ is deceptively beautiful.

The set comes in a nice sized box so you feel your getting a substantial gift and the models, when they are built, are visually stunning.

They are also a great size for imaginary play as well as making impressive bedroom decorations.

If you can’t find the Rex London Model, there is an almost identical set by National Geographic available on Amazon

Priced at around £19.95 this is a great value set of 3d Space Mission Vehicles that would be equally suitable as a present for a Space Fan Adult
