What’s In The Ultimate SPARKLE Science Kit Box
The Ultimate SPARKLE Science kit contains everything you need to make 10 sparkly experiments at home with the exception of a few household items.
- Nightlight with colour changing LED (Requires 2 x LR44 batteries – included),
- room fragrance jar,
- safety goggles,
- mystic ball container,
- mystic ball dice and stickers,
- shower jelly mould,
- stirrer,
- measuring scoop,
- agar-agar,
- slime powder,
- aluminium potassium sulphate,
- biodegradable glitter,
- blue colouring,
- pink colouring,
- plaster of paris,
- plastic beaker,
- strawberry fragrance,
- experiment guide book.
A few things to note; the gelatine is animal-based so this kit might not be good for vegetarians although it would be easy to substitute a vegetarian gelling agent in it’s place; the glitter included is eco glitter; The colouring stains!
The house hold items you will also need to get are;

Experiment Guide Book
The guide book that comes with the Ultimate SPARKLE Science kit is very detailed. At the front of the booklet, you’ll find advice for the supervising adult, first aid information and safety rules. On the opposite page is an illustrated list of all the equipment that comes with the kit and details of household ingredients that aren’t included but you will need.

It’s a good idea to run though this with your kids as it sets good lab/work space practice standards that are also learnt in school!
The guide contains 5 topic areas – Gellification, Diffusion, Super Absorbant Polymers, Density, and Crystallisation. Under each topic, you’ll find details of the science behind each topic area. Plus each topic has 2 detailed activities/experiments to do.
Each experiment start with a list of equipment required followed by an illustrated step-by-step guide. and all of the experiments follow a ‘measure, mix, pour and explore’ style.

What Are The Ultimate SPARKLE Science Experiments Like?
As mentioned earlier, there are 10 experiments that come in the Ultimate SPARKLE Science kit. If you watch the video towards the top of the page you’ll see a hands on review of an experiment from each topic.

The experiments include – spherification; making glittery bath jellies; colour diffusion and aroma diffusion, collapsing hair gel, making a slime nightlight, layering liquids, making a Mystic Ball, making a crystal geode and making glitter dance!
Most of the experiments show results straight away, with the exception of a couple of items that need a few hours to set (heart shower gel, slime nightlight, and room freshener). There is also a geode that takes a week for crystals to grow.

Each topic has what I would call a simple no-frills experiment followed by a larger more impressive experiment using containers that come with the kit. The no-frills experiment usually demonstrates a chemical reaction whereas the larger experiment often ends up with a useable home accessory product being made such as shower jellies, room fragrance jar, slime nightlight, etc. All of them are easy enough to do with minimal supervision which makes them more exciting for the kids.

What Did We Think Of The Ultimate SPARKLE Science Kit?
The science kit comes with a nice balance of experiments, with most of them having a ‘wow’ factor when completed. They were all straightforward to do and manageable for most children to do independently, helped by the instructions guide for each experiment being clear and easy to follow. Plus, as well as the instructions the guide includes information on the science behind each experiment.

It was nice having a mix of chemical reaction demonstrations and product-making science. We felt the finished slime nightlight was the most visually impressive and also fun to make. You can watch it being made in the Instagram Reel below.
The Mystic Ball was probably our least favourite but it was still fun to make and test out!

Most of the experiments could easily be repeated as the ingredients used are pretty easy to source. My girls were fascinated watching the hair gel breakdown so we will definitely be doing this again with cheap hair gel bought from the pound store!

The erupting volcano is an easy one to do at home.
Erupting volcanos are always a winner with kids aren’t they?! We have even done little volcanoes in a test tube.
We bought my son a microscope for Christmas and he enjoys collecting specimens on slides to look at under the microscope.
Tornado in a Bottle
Secure two two-liter bottles together with water inside, flip upside down, give a shake, and watch a tornado form its distinctive funnel shape. You can also put glitter or small items in the bottle to show how a tornado’s winds would whip objects around in the real world.
We love making colourful volcanoes. It’s best done outside though as it can get rather messy!
