How to Use Recycled Geomag Classic 42 Piece Set
As with all Geomag sets you don’t need the leaflet to use the Recycled Geomag Classic 42 Piece set. It’s designed to allow kids to dive straight in and start connecting the pieces intuitively.
But the instruction leaflet is useful. It illustrates how to use the rods and balls to make basic 2D shapes and then how to put those structures together to create larger complex models.
It also explains magnet polarity and illustrates the ‘push’ & “pull’ of magnets. And this can also be used to have fun with movement.
What CAn You Build?
It’s great fun to just let kids investigate Geomag by themselves. It’s this investigation that can often lead to them asking questions about why the magnets work the way they do. Especially regarding “push” and “pull”.
But of course Geomag is a great teaching aid and it can be used to help children understand 2D and 3D shapes… the steel balls can represent vertex and the rods the edges.
It can help demonstrate strength in shapes and show many objects are constructed using repeated shape patterns.
The bases can be used from both sides. One way allows you to sit a square of pentagon construction inside the base. This is great for beginers and young kids as it helps the base stay solid and in shape, whilst they build.
Flip the base over so the raised edges show and you create some rods for your base section.
And you can have great fun hanging the steel balls off the magnets!
What Do We Think Of The RECYCLED GEOMAG CLASSIC 42 PIECE SET?
I’ve always loved construction sets as they secretly help kids develop a range of skills and knowledge whilst innocently playing. Geomag is particularly suited to studying magnetic forces and polarity, expanding on 2d and 3d shapes and of course combining this knowledge to use in construction projects whilst continually refining their creative design.
I love that Geomag has now created an Eco set of Recycled products and hopefully over time the whole range will only consist of recycled material. I love that they have finally removed the polystyrene containers and given neat plastic boxes to store the rods and steel balls in. That alone is a massive improvement and I wonder why it’s taken so long to do this?!
Geomag is perfect for kids who love to investigate and fiddle. It is an incredibly well-made brand that uses high-quality materials and the very nature of it means it’s easy to expand with other sets.
Aimed at 3+ years the Recycled Geomag Classic 42 piece set is a worthy investment. It will be of use throughout childhood helping support studying in later years. As I’ve said before… ‘it’s the perfect STEM Toy, that will help develop logic, problem-solving, build skills and of course develop a child’s understanding of magnetic forces’.
