Fluffie Stuffiez Collectible Plush toys are an interactive sensory joy! They look and feel amazing, and provide more than just a super cute friend… but if you don’t like a mess, this may not be the toy for you!
I first saw them at DreamToys 2023 where it was chosen, understandably, as one of the top 20 best toys for Christmas. The colourful display of cute plushies was eye-catching, and one of the demonstrators wore a fabulous jacket made out of the same pickable material as the soft toys! It was an impressive sensory piece of clothing and would undoubtedly be a big hit if it ever came onto the market. For now, though, only the plushies are available to consumers.

I was given a large-size bear to bring home and check out which is what I’m basing this review on. But there is quite a broad cast of characters in the range including some smaller versions that you’ll find listed further down the page.

What Are Fluffie Stuffiez Collectable Toys?
Fluffie Stuffiez are a brand new (launched a few months back) series of huggable, fluffy, collectable plush toys, by MGA Entertainment. Aged 4+ they are designed to offer an extended play experience for a plush toy, providing; unboxing, collectability, sensory and fidget play, companionship, and imaginative play experiences.

The concept is brilliant and has a lot of appeal for kids (and adults) who have sensory needs and like to fiddle. You unpack a cute tactile plush, but what you see is not what you get. By pulling away the first layer of fluff, your hidden surprise plushie is revealed, in a different colour. Not only that, the fluff that you’ve pulled off gets put inside the storage bag to create a second squeezable version of your Fluffie Stuffiez. It sounds strange but once you see it, it makes total sense!
Each of the fun characters in series 1 (which suggests there will be more characters rolled out in the future) is characterised by vibrant colours, diverse textures, and a 3-in-1 collectible play experience, which is described as
- pull it
- reveal it
- stuff it
What Comes In The Fluffie Stuffiez Packaging?
Inside the box, you’ll find
- a Fluffie Stuffiez plush
- a Fluffie Stuffiez shaped storage pouch
- an identity tag
IMPORTANT: Make sure you keep the little label on the bottom left of the packaging. This reveals the identity of the Fluffie Stuffiez cute characters
How Easy Are Fluffie Stuffiez to Unbox?
The Fluffie Stuffiez are pretty easy to unbox as long as you cut ALL the sellotape around the edge of the packaging. Once this is done you can pull the cardboard packaging apart and get access to the Fulffie Stuffiez surprise character that is stuffed inside the soft squishy sealable storage pouch bag. The soft squishy bag doubles up as a storage container for the fluff that is pulled off the Fluffie Stuffiez.

Getting the Fluffie Stuffiez out of the storage bag is a little tricky as it’s firmly stuffed inside it. It needs a firm grip and small jiggle tugs to coax it out, so younger kids may need some help here. Once out you’re ready to to start the fun interactive de-fluffing to find out which character you have!

How Do Fluffie Stuffiez Work?
Once the Fluffie Stuffiez has been removed from the bag (which as mentioned needs a good yank to get out) it’s time to pull on the outer layer of fluff.
The fluff needs a firm grip and does not come out easily or in large clumps, which means the process of de-fluffing completely takes a few hours, or even days depending on the individual.

I like this because it extends the process and allows for some creativity, as kids can make patterns and designs on their Fluffie Stuffiez as they de-fluff them. If you want the de-fluffing colour reveals to be a complete surprise, hide the identity tag until after as this reveals which variation you have. On the flip side if you know the colour variation underneath you can use that to creatively de-fluff different sections and have your character slowly change and evolve.

Once fluff has been pulled out, it is put into the squishy bag the Fluffie Stuffiez was pulled out of. And this creates a second sensory toy that can be squeezed, tipped, and shaked!
The underneath colour is well concealed. Although I had a few patches around the back that revealed the underneath colour in places
Now the not-so-good. The synthetic wool sheds everywhere when you pull it out of its plastic pouch. And it has a lot of static, resulting in little bits sticking to everything… jumpers, walls, hands, phones etc! You need to be doing this on a hard surface where it is easier to contain and scoop them up. Fine fibers also shed from the Fluffie Stuffiez whilst being handled ( no fluff yanking). And this also gets everywhere. However, this may only be a problem when it’s first pulled out of the storage pouch, as it became less the more it was handled.

What Did We Think Of The Fluffie Stuffiez
As a sensory toy I loved the Fluffie Stuffiez. It feels super soft and textured straight out of the packaging, and tactile children will love the feel of the fluff on their fingertips. Pulling out the fluff will not appeal to everyone. Some kids may find it frustrating, or even upsetting that their plushie is changing. But for kids who love creative mindful activities, the Fluffie Stuffiez will be a big hit.

My autistic daughter loves the mental downtime and creative thought that de-fluffing provides. She doesn’t like the fluff going everywhere and is very particular about where she does this. My ADHD daughter, who is a massive ‘fiddler’, finds pulling out the fluff super satisfying in small doses. And she loves feeling all the loose bits of thread inside the pouch.
PROS
- it’s multi-faceted; providing a fun interactive activity, sensory stimulus, creative output, and comfort/companionship.
- it’s super tactile and provides lots of sensory input
- it’s a great fidget toy
- It has a surprise element
- it’s great for honing fine motor skills
- the fluff takes a while to pull out providing an activity that lasts
- you collect a cute plushie companion
CONS
- some kids may not like their original plushie changing
- younger kids may need to be supervised as the fibers and fluff are small
- it’s messy
- the fluff can be tricky to pull out and it’s not a quick process
- the small synthetic fibers don’t make it very eco-friendly
