5 Second Rule Spintensity Game Review

In this game, you race against time (5 seconds) to name 3 things based on your card question before the timer runs out. It’s fast-paced, frantic and at times, frustratingly difficult!

What’s In The 5 Second Rule Spintensity Box?

5 Second Rule Spintensity comes with

  • an electronic spinner with lights and sounds! (this acts as the playing board)
  • 200 double-sided question cards (so 400 questions in total)
  • 6 player pieces
  • start and finish position markers
  • instruction leaflet

You will need to provide 3AAA batteries for the spinner as these don’t come with the game.

How To Play 5 SECOND RULE SPINTENSITY

The great thing about 5 Second Spintensity is you can take control of how long or short you want the game to be by choosing where you place the start and finish markers. The number of spaces between them basically controls how many questions need to be answered to win the game.

To start place the spinner and question cards on the table where everyone can reach them. Add the start and finish markers to the spinner and place the required number of spinners on the start segment.

5 second Rule Spintensity Game Spinner

The game is divided into rounds that are controlled by the timer. During each of the rounds, players will win cards. The number of cards they win determines how many places their playing piece moves around the spinner.

The first player presses the button on the spinner to start their go, draws a card and names 3 things from the card category.

5 Second Rule Spintensity Category Cards

If they correctly name 3 things within 5 seconds, press the button on the spinner and keep the card. The spinner will then either

  • challenge them to name more things (2 more or 3 more),
  • take another card,
  • or move play to the next player.

If they don’t answer within 5 seconds the alarm sounds and the buzzer turns red. The card is discarded and play moves to the next player.

The round keeps going until the spinner bell chimes. Players then add up their cards and move their playing piece forward that amount. A new round then starts and play continues like this until a player reaches the finish marker.

What Did We Think Of 5 SECOND RULE SPINTENSITY?

We really liked 5 Second Spintensity. It’s a fast-paced, frantic and exciting game to play. There’s a great mix of questions for all ages and genre’s which means everyone is going to come across cards they find easy, push them a little of they just can’t answer at all… which adds to the fun. And with over 400 questions you’re not going to get bored.

Spintensity Game Review

It’s a really nice compact game because the electronic spinner is combined with the playing board, which means you don’t need a lot of space to play and makes it potentially a good game for taking out and about. Although because it’s noisy it’s not a game to play on the train!

Another positive is the fact it’s a quick game and the ability to move the start and finish markers is a bonus.

One niggle is that once you stack the question cards in their little cardboard box you’ll find you cannot put the lid on the main game box when you come to pack it away. This is because the plastic insert for that particular component sits too high. You could get rid of the insert but that just leaves things rolling around loose in the box so the best thing to do is just cut the base of that part of the plastic insert and everything will be snug as a bug!

Oh! And you can also combine this with the original and Junior game for even more fun.

5 Second Rule Spintensity can be bought at Argos, Smyths Toys and all good toy retailers.
